Amy Grey (Founder, Co-Owner, & Gym Director)

Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin and a resident of the Coachella Valley for over 30 years, Amy has been cheerleading or dancing since elementary school. She was a competitive middle school and high school cheerleader and has almost 27 years of coaching expertise. She is a former United Spirit Association (USA) instructor and camp director as well as a judge for various competitive companies throughout the United States. She has done choreography and coached award-winning teams from throughout Southern California. Locally, she has worked as a cheer/dance coach/choreographer for Palm Springs High School, Palm Desert High School, La Quinta High School, and Nellie Coffman Middle School. She also began and ran championship programs at both James Workman Middle School (two-time National Champions in a junior varsity high school division) and Cathedral City High School. Marco Galvaz (Co-Owner and Head Coach)

Coach Marco Galvez Marco is in his third year as a member of our coaching staff and brings with him tremendous cheerleading and gymnastic experience. For the 2010-2011, he is taking the lead role in training all Maverick teams. He is a former high school cheerleader and competitive gymnast. He was a member of Pace All-Stars and California All-Stars. He is a current member of the Nationally ranked Orange Coast College Cheer Team (O.C.C.) world-reowned Pace Empire All-Stars Pro Team. Erin Werner (Cheer Coach & Music Production)

alt Erin is a fifth-year coach with the D.V.A.S., Erin is originally from New Mexico, and a former UCA staff member and University of New Mexico cheerleader. Erin has trained and choreographed for numerous school and all-star cheerleading programs in New Mexico and Nevada bringing home many championship titles. She has sixteen years of coaching experience, and edits and produces cheer music for teams throughout the area. She is also starting the first official cheer program at Amelia Earhart Elementary this fall. She is mother to two daughters, Jordyn and Rhyen, and toddler son Jaxon. Kristina Hammond (Cheer Coach)

alt Returning to her "cheer roots", Kristina moved back to the desert last year to begin her newly married life. She is a former Senior Elite Maverick, who began cheering with Coach Amy Grey in sixth grade with the National Champion James Workman Middle School Cheer Team. She is a former four-year high school cheerleader with Palm Desert High School. Her Step-Daughter Mia is in her third year as a Maverick. Jermaine Deceirdo (Cheer Coach & Class Instructor)

alt Returning to the DVAS to coach and instruct after living out of the area, Jermaine is a former Maverick with a long history as a member of Coach Grey's championship teams from middle school on. We're extremely excited to have her return to the DVAS. She is a former Senior Elite Maverick & Open Team member and now is one of the main flyers on our Parent Team. She is an amazing, well-rounded performer who's excels in stunting. Her daughter Dioree is participating in our recreational cheer program and will soon become a Tiny Maverick! Katrina Jasso (Cheer Coach)

Katrina returned to Mavericks mid-way through the last season and helped lead the Mini Team to a successful finish of their season. She is former Senior Elite and College Open Maverick, who also was a member of her high school team. She is a former competitive gymnast, who has continued coaching after high school. She was a professional cheer instructor for Spirit Club International. We're excited to have her rejoin the coaching team as her spirit and positive attitude make her a valuable asset to our program. Jessica Rock (Assistant Coach)

Jessica is a long-time Elite Maverick, who is currently on the National Championship Azusa Pacific University Cheer Team (with fellow, former Maverick Sanja!). She remains an important of the Mavericks throughout the cheer season, helping coach the senior teams when she can. Jessica is a strong performer with excellent skills who provides a great role model for our senior members.

Kendra Phillips (Assistant Coach)

Kendra is new to our coaching staff and currently a member of our Senior Elite & International team. She is a four-year member of the La Quinta High School Cheer Team. We're excited for Kendra to share her love of cheer and great stunting ability, as she helps in coaching our strong youth program.

Jade Mason (Assistant Coach)

Jade is beginning her coaching career this year working with our strong youth program. She is also currently a member of the Mavericks Senior Elite & International teams, as well as being a key member of her school's varsity team at Cathedral City High School. Jade's spirit and enthusiasm makes her an excellent role model for our youngest Mavericks.
